About Me

Me, circa 2017

It’s pronounced “Shree-yah”

I wear a lot of hats: digital media producer, communications professional, filmmaker, and comedian. I work at the intersection of digital media, progressive politics, and comedy.

I started out in film, producing numerous short films (including The Solar System, 2013 Amsterdam Film Festival Van Gogh Award for Best Drama) in addition to writing and directing my own (Rocket Man). Work experience includes the BBC, Discovery, Comedy Central, and the Sundance Institute-affiliated Asian American Artists Foundation.

My work with the Media Democracy Fund and Ford Foundation-funded documentary, The Internet Must Go, led to my first job in the digital media space: working as the Operations Manager for a fledgling startup at the time called Upworthy.

Since then, I’ve primarily worked as a freelance media professional bringing my storytelling and filmmaking background to various digital media endeavors.

To pay off my student loan debt, I'm pursuing the ever lucrative field of comedy. In addition to regularly performing with my sketch team, Face For Radio, at the People’s Improv Theatre, I also do standup and storytelling at various shows and venues across I-95. I have also collaborated with The Box, an intersectional feminist late night comedy show, and the comedic activists at Lady Parts Justice, a reproductive rights advocacy organization.

A graduate of the film program at NYU Tisch, I recently completed my Master's degree in Integrated Digital Media at NYU's Polytechnic School of Engineering…#PlotTwist. My thesis explored using social media and humor to increase voter turnout amongst millennials through an interactive live comedy show and accompanying Twitterbot.

My first foray into politics was serving as the Deputy Digital Content Director in North Carolina for Hillary For America. I most recently served as the senior digital content producer for Priorities USA.
